Penstemon cobaea var cobaea (Showy Beard Tongue)
This plant only occurs in two known locations in Missouri. One
is in Kansas City near a Freeway.
It grows on a Rock ledge so it doesn't get mowed or sprayed by
the highway dept. , at least not yet. Wildlands is collecting seed from
the plant in hopes of getting it started at Rocky Point Glade or Blue River
Glade. We have seeded some the last two years, but haven't seen any prodgeny
yet. Some sources say that the plants don't bloom until they are three years
old.
